On Monday 18 May, Eboli’s herbal liqueur will round off the Michelin-starred dinner
hosted by chef Peppe Guida at the Filippo Palizi Museum of Industrial Art
Eboli, 14 May 2026 – Amaro Don Carlo will be one of the highlights of this year’s 18th edition of
Wine&Thecity, scheduled to take place in Naples from 16 to 23 May, an independent cultural project
conceived by Donatella Bernabò Silorata, which features a packed programme of
events across the city where fine wine, design, art and fashion come together in unusual venues
in the name of taste and beauty.
On Monday 18 May, the artisanal herbal liqueur created by Carlo Gargiulo and Angela Caliendo will mark
the conclusion of the dinner hosted by Michelin-starred chef Peppe Guida of the Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa in
Vico Equense, at the Museo Artistico Industriale in Naples, on the Pizzofalcone hill in Piazzetta
Demetrio Salazar.
Preceded by an aperitif in the entrance courtyard and the majolica-tiled loggia, the evening, entitled
Convivio del Tempo, will consist of a tour of the Museum and a seated dinner to be held in the
charming rooms that once housed the convent’s refectory: guests will be seated
at a single imperial table, the setting for which bears the signature of the Neapolitan lifestyle and table designer
Sergio Colantuoni, known for his aesthetic that is both minimalist and theatrical.
At the heart of this event lies Peppe Guida’s cuisine, a true celebration of pasta, the sea and
the vegetable garden, rooted in family heritage and the concept of sustainability, which brings out the flavours of
Campania’s extraordinary ingredients in all their simplicity. Among the dishes on offer, paired with
wines from the Consorzio Tutela Vini Vesuvio, is one of the chef’s cult first courses, ‘Spaghettino all’acqua di
limone’, a masterpiece of balance between acidity and savouriness.
To conclude, Francesco Guida’s *Santa Rosa Scomposto*, a contemporary interpretation of the
a dessert created in the 1600s by a nun from the Santa Rosa monastery in Conca dei Marini, from which it
takes its name, and which has now gone down in history, and the chef’s special treat, Nonna Rosa’s zeppoline,
served alongside Amaro Don Carlo, an artisanal liqueur made from walnut husks
(60%) and a blend of selected herbs and spices, which has become the true pride and joy of the
historic Gargiulo Coloniali business in Eboli.
Created in 1994 thanks to the vision and passion of Angela Caliendo, Amaro Don Carlo, a black liqueur
with an intense aroma of nuts and spices and an aromatic flavour, is an elegant and refined after-dinner
and meditation liqueur that also demonstrates great versatility in mixology and in
the preparation of fine dining dishes, to which it lends refined aromatic notes and depth of
flavour.
This will therefore be an important opportunity for Amaro Don Carlo to showcase, in a
prestigious setting, its distinctive characteristics, authenticity, craftsmanship and regional heritage, which
make it so highly regarded by both consumers and the national and
international press (the Corriere della Sera has included it among the eight labels not to be missed on
World Amaro Day 2025).
Wine&Thecity represents a perfect blend of design and taste, which Amaro Don Carlo fully embodies as
This is also evident in the care taken with its vintage-style label, the result of the collaboration between
graphic designer Mario Cavallaro and illustrator Valentina Grilli, which features pencil drawings on
a yellow background with gold accents depicting three modes of transport: the Steam Engine, the Bicycle and the
hot-air balloon, symbols of the dimensions that form the soul of Amaro Don Carlo: past,
present and future.
Convivio del Tempo will, in fact, celebrate conviviality as an art form in its own right and will contribute
to tell the story of these places, which were first the Convent of Santa Maria La Solitaria, then
the Paggeria and the Royal Naval Academy, and are now the Art, Dance and Music High School (Palizzi campus of the
Caselli Palizzi Arts Centre), and to introduce visitors to the museum established in the late 19th century by Gaetano Filangieri,
Prince of Satriano, which houses some seven thousand works of ancient and modern art, including paintings,
sculptures, drawings, glassware, bronzes, ancient artefacts and an important collection of ceramics.
